Despite having a heavy school workload this week, I managed to have yet another week of solid training in BJJ and weightlifting.
This week I started rolling harder, lifting more, and dialing in my diet. It was a good week.
This was one of my best training weeks of 2014. I'm dialing in my diet and have changed my approach to drilling.
Although I've shifted my Olympic weightlifting focus, I know it helps me as a grappler and I was happy to get back to lifting this week.
Last Saturday I competed in the New York Open and lost my very first match to a guy who beat me two years ago.
Although I wasn't as prepared as I usually am, last weekend's tournament turned out to be a huge success.
Since I began competing in combat sports, this is the least technically, physically, and mentally prepared that I have ever been.
2014 has gotten off to a rocky start, but that's not going to stop me from competing in BJJ and Olympic weightlifting.
Last Saturday I had my second competition of the year. My very first match went about 4.5 minutes until I submitted from injury.
This was the last week of training before my next tournament, and I feel confident in the progress I've made since my last competition.
This week I trained at a different grappling school and got to work on tightening up some holes in my game.
This was by far the best training week I’ve had this year, and it feels like my Brazilian jiu jitsu and weightlifting are coming together.
