Mims Boyce is a physical therapist by day and a pursuer of all things difficult and challenging by night. Always a competitive athlete as a child and young adult, Mims graduated with a B.A. in kinesiology and health promotions in 2006 from Louisiana Tech University, where he also was a four-year letterman for the baseball team. After graduation, Mims attended physical therapy school at Louisiana State University - New Orleans where he obtained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy after capstone research, presentation, and defense of the lateral ankle complex, recurrent injury, and subsequent instability.
Mims believes that physical movement and high-level functioning is the ultimate in self-discovery and expression. He believes that pain and suffering will reveal more about an individual’s character to him- or herself and to others than almost any other life challenge. However, this mentality is challenged by his knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and function. As a therapist, Mims is often presented with having his patients/clients perform fewer workouts at lower intensity for the sake of rehabilitation or injury prevention. Subsequently, there is often a philosophic tug-of-war waging inside Mims’s head, explaining his hesitancy toward social interaction.
Mims currently works a physical therapist working with patients suffering from numerous diagnoses, including total joint replacement, neurological disease (Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, etc), and orthopedic injury. Mims also is the owner of Mims Boyce Physical Therapy and Sports Performance where he specializes in high-level, progressive rehabilitation with an emphasis on sports performance and return to competition.
