Hi
i am new to this site so please forgive me if i am in the wrong area.

i have just started weight training (4months) and i started to notice a change at the beginning of the training however, now i feel like i am not "getting leaner".
A lot of the information on the internet is brilliant... if you want to lose weight by weight training OR if you want to bulk up and get massive. However, at 5ft 7" and 52kg with body measurements on 33", 24", 30", i dont need to lose any weight, if anythin i need to put it on, and i want to put it on via muscle.

Can you please help me out with the kind of diet i should be eating and the work outs i should be doin.

thanks
I am interested in pursuing a kettlebell certification and thought this would be a good place to look for advice. I'm leaning toward Steve Cotter's IKFF certification, but honestly I see a lot of pros and cons to other programs as well. Since they're not on the cheap side I want to make an informed decision.

I would love any advice or information from people who have completed a kettlebell certification, regardless of the program. What did you like about it, and would you recommend it to others?

Hello there...have been reading the articles and following a few weeks of the bodyweight exercises (which are awesome btw) and finally want to get back to work with weights.
But, I have a problem that my doctors never have a straight answer for.

I do not have a left glute.

The background...I was involved in an explosion overseas. I had 27 fractures which included a femoral neck fx, bilateral acetabular fx's, my sacrum was in two pieces and several lumbar and thoracic fractures. Somewhere along the line, following a few surgeries to repair the femoral fx, my left inferior gluteal nerve was severed and the doctors never realized it until it was about a year later.

I've asked every doctor about lifting....deadlifts and squats in particular...and they never seem to have an answer. They refer me to physical therapy and physical therapy refers me back to the doctors. I have no real pain and have been doing light deadlifts pain free...and bodyweight squats until I get my squat rack delivered.

I just wanted to know your thoughts or opinions about this. Would I be setting myself up to get injured? All of my previous injuries happened in 2006. Fully healed. Just the nerve damage. Can I get an effective workout because I'm missing such a huge muscle? Should I be doing other exercises instead?

Thank you for any and all answers...

Hello,
I already posted this issue as a comment, but did not get help:
just by reading the workouts / exercises I sometimes to not know what I should do. Some exercises can be found by using a search engine and looking on Youtube, but I would really appreciate, if you could introduce / set a link to new or uncommon exercises if these cycles are not just for people of a "secret inner circle of knowledge".
In some of the RKC days you set links to a very common exercise like the swing, but uncommon exercises are not explained.
Also some of the exercises in the BW-Section I could not even find using a search engine, so these must be special creations either in relation to the exercise or in relation to the naming of the exercise.
So my excitement about finding your site has now quite cooled down.
Can anyone help to improve the descriptions?

Hey All!

Just looking for some advice or coaching tips on the clean.

The issue we are having is that at lighter weights - 65, 75, 85 lbs the squat clean looks good and is preformed well.

As the weight increases the athlete is releasing the hands on the catch and then recatching the bar in the front rack. The problem is the in the catch she is starting with the correct grip distance but when she regrips at the top of the catch the hands are moving dangerously close. One time she has caught her hand underneath the bar causing an injury and another time caught her knee on her elbow also causing injury, not severe, just wrist pain. Both of these incidents happened at 135#, a weight which is close to this athletes PR.

Just wondering if you have any tips to eliminate releasing the hands and then trying to rematch? Thinking it could be a number of things- fear of the bar, front rack mobility....

I am a Marine who volunteered and was accepted into Force Recon. The testing for entry was tough and out of 103 who tried out 4 made it, including me.

I want to requalify and attain the same standards I did during that time so long ago and am almost on track but need some inspiration and advice.

It's a simple test to many here, I know, and included:

20 Pullups in boots
50 Pushups in one minute
70 Situps in two minues
3 mile run in 18:00 minutes.
1/2 mile swim in fatigues.

There were a few other goodies but time has dimmed them from memory. Now I took that test 54 years ago and next year for my 75th Birthday I want to requalify. I'm pretty much on track and using the following workout but really need some suggestions or ideas on what to include or not include.

I'm currently 74, 5' 9" 154 lbs 12% - 10% BF

Twice a week:
All exercises 8-10 reps / 3 sets
Squats 70%-90% body weight
DB push/Press - 40 lbs
Pullups/Chin ups 3 sets 10/10

Pushups 3 sets 35
Curls - BB 70 lbs
Tri Extension - 95 lbs
Incline Situp weight 35
Tim Ferris Bosu situp 20
Incline Curl 15
