I continued my low volume week and then started renewed training efforts on Monday. Worlds will be October 6th, and I have about 21 weeks to get it together.
I’ve been feeling a bit beat up lately, so only 3 low-volume sessions this week. Nonetheless, I still managed a good pull and set a personal record on the dumbbell bench press this week.
This was a productive week, with an all-time PR on chin ups, as well as my heaviest squat and deadlift numbers weighing less than 200 pounds.
In just a week after changing my training approach, I'm already seeing the results, particularly in the bench press. Next week will focus on the lower body.
I had the flu and missed over a week of training, which also made me decide to pass on the powerlifting meet. Also a video of a close call I had during a squat session this week!
My training seems to be going as I had planned. This week I hit a 260 bench and 370 squat at a bodyweight of about 200 pounds.
This week was a week of ups and downs - lots of hard work, a few sucky misses, some epic DOMS, and a few epiphanies as well.
My numbers this week were solid but not spectacular, but it seems my shoulder is almost back to normal. I'm also at the lowest bodyweight I've been at since my twenties.
I added some new movements to my training this week, like heavy sumo deadlifts and cambered bar squats. My shoulder is feeling a lot better and I even did some heavy benching.
The big news this week is that I managed to briefly pass out with 390 pounds on my back. I luckily caught it on video for your viewing entertainment. Enjoy!
We were doing a lot of reorganizing and moving around gym equipment this week, so I had a shorter training week than usual. I'm also figuring out ways to work around my shoulder pain.
Despite shoulder pain I did hit a lifetime best deadlift this week, which was very gratifying. Not only was it my heaviest pull, but it was also at a lower bodyweight than previous records.
