This week's video - the Fosbury Flop. Do you know where the name Fosbury Flop comes from and what exactly it refers to? In 1968 at the Mexico Olympics, Dick Fosbury from the USA brought the "flop" to the world's attention. A new technique for clearing the high jump, the Fosbury Flop lifted Dick Fosbury all the way to Olympic gold. Within a few years the dominant technique for high jumping would become that very flop. Today variations on the flop still remain the popular technique while Fosbury, once ridiculed by the press, is now revered as a revolutionary athlete.
