EDITOR'S NOTE: Every Sunday we will be featuring a new bodyweight exercise video from physical therapist Ben Musholt, author of the Mad Skills Exercise Encyclopedia. Ben has a diverse movement background, spanning board sports, martial arts, parkour, and gymnastics. Get watching and get moving!

In this video, Ben Musholt demonstrates three handstand conditioning exercises that come from the world of gymnastics. Handstand conditioning is useful for improving balance, coordination, and core strength. The movements are:

  • Handstand kick ups - Done against the wall.
  • Cast wall walks - Done facing the wall in a handstand position, walking down into a plank, then walking back up.
  • Handstand wall runs - Done facing the wall, shifting weight to one side, then back over to the other side.

These exercises are labelled as handstand conditioning for a reason. As you'll see at the end of the video, they leave Ben quite short of breath! Let us know how you get on with them.
