I competed in the IBJJF No-Gi Pan Am tournament on Saturday, and I ended up falling short. But I still learned from it.
Last week I had the chance to learn from BJJ athlete Rafael Mendes. I even got to roll with him and ask him questions over a sushi dinner.
This past week has definitely been a burner for me. We’ve been drilling and rolling nonstop, and I’m making sure every minute of training counts.
Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been making a conscious effort to be less of a negative Nancy about things. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it.
When I feel good about school, my training is good, and when my training is good I feel like the happiest person on Earth.
This week was the start of the new school year and a new major for me, so I've adjusted my training accordingly.
I didn't train as hard as I would have liked to this week, but I did get to coach a group of kids at a tournament.
I hurt my elbow and had to deal with a cold for two days, but it was still a great week.
This was a great week of training, with lots of new skills, a visit to a different gym, and a relaxing recovery day.
I jumped right back into training this week, and I'm glad I did. I've also been having success with setting small daily goals for my training.
After my competition last week at the New York Open, I can't wait to get back out there and do my thing.
Aside from a minor back strain, I'm feeling confident and ready for the New York Open this weekend.
