This week wasn't my best. I injured my knee on Friday so I didn't get to train, and my diet hasn't been as clean as I'd like. However, it did give me time to work on some other BJJ-related projects.
It's been a fantastic week with some positive changes for my gym, my diet, and my training.
2014 is off to a good start! I’ve been enjoying my time off from school, my gym is getting a lot of new students who are eager to learn, and I’ve been getting a ton of great training.
I made it to 2014 alive and had a great year for competing and training. Here are my goals for 2014, as well as the long-term goals that I'm striving towards.
I trained a lot this week and was also excited when several women came in asking about BJJ. Most of the women at our gym do kickboxing or boxing, so it will be nice to have more women to train with.
School has ended for the semester and I'm getting in as much training as possible. I’m sad that I have to go back to school eventually, but I’m going to enjoy this while it lasts.
This week I had finals, so I had to take a few days off of my training. In other news, one of the founders of Scranton MMA received his black belt this week from Royce Gracie.
Finals are right around the corner, but I've still managed to get in my training. The schedule at Scranton MMA finally changed, so I can teach and train every day.
This week I had a few reminders that I need to make sure my basic techniques and self-defense are on point, including the seminar with Royce Gracie at our school.
I always envied people on the West Coast because I thought they had more competitions, seminars, and open mats, but this week I found out I might have been looking in the wrong places.
I had an eventful week this week, both in my personal life and in training. In jiu jitsu news, I'm looking forward to meeting Royce Gracie in person next week!
I have two lessons for you this week that are helping me get better at jiu jitsu and life in general. One of them involves Dunkin' Donuts.
