Sophia McDermott Drysdale has had an extensive background in sports. Starting at four years old as a dancer, she then moves on to gymnastics where she trained for almost 10 years. In 2002, she started Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), a martial art that focuses on ground technique and grappling. Sophia was awarded her black belt in 2010, making her the first Australian female to receive a Black Belt in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Sophia is currently a 4 x State, Nation, Pan Pacific, and Pan Am Champion. She is also 2 x No-Gi World Champion and World Champion.
Sophia has also competed in Figure shows and holds the distinction of being the Overall Unlimited Champion in the Figure division for the NPC federation in 2015.
In addition to being a world-class athlete, Sophia has worked as a trainer and coach specializing in functional training for athletes and nutrition. Sophia is certified with National Academy of Sports Medicine and works with local clients as well as online clients all over the world.
