Many of us spend substantial time sitting in front of a computer or at a desk. Standing windmill will strengthen your upper back and shoulders, lateral hip musculature, obliques, and abs to assist with postural imbalances and unequal weight distribution.

This exercise will offset and begin to correct the following postural imbalances:
- Rotation and twisting in the torso
- Thoracic offset (when a person leans to one side)
- Slumped shoulders and back
- Unequal weight distribution (this can be felt when a person bears more weight on one foot or one hip versus the other)
- Hip elevation
Try this exercise if you:
- Spend long hours at a computer, and experience back, shoulder and neck pain and tightness as a result
- Experience chronic tightness in one or both hip flexors
- Have minor hip pain
