Today's culture pushes the idea of having a body that is aesthetically pleasing. To that end, in this video series we've been discussing the difference between aesthetic goals versus training for athletic performance and efficiency.
This week we look at compound (or multi-joint) movements versus isolation movements. Neither is wrong, but let's look at when to use them and for what purpose. The compound movements we will discuss (in detail) are the deadlift, front squat, and overhead press. We will also discuss the merits of the barbell curl and the skull-crusher (supine triceps extension).
