Video: The Importance of Rest and Some Overhead Press Fine Tuning

From a rooftop in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania comes a video about the importance of rest, along with some fine-tuning tips for better overhead pressing movements.

You don't like resting because you think you're losing ground when you rest. The truth is, though, without rest your body doesn't rebuild and eventually you will start losing ground no matter how much you train. Overtraining can injure you and make you seriously ill. So, I know it's hard, but your mind and your body will appreciate some real down time.

For those of you not resting, I want to chat with you about your overhead press. There are some small details you can adjust to make your press more effective – and also less likely to cause injury.

We're going to talk about:

  • Elbow angle
  • Head position and movement (how to be a proper Pez dispenser)
  • Hand position while you press (why you need to rev the engine)
