Dr. John Mullen was a nationally ranked swimmer thorough childhood and earned an athletic scholarship at Purdue University. While at Purdue, he earned a degree in health science and a certificate in entrepreneurship. Dr. John was an Academic Honorable Mention All-American and was awarded the Red Mackey Award and R. O. Papenguh Award. He also won the Purdue Undergraduate business plan and elevator pitch competition, as well as first prize with the Indiana Soy Bean Alliance.
After Purdue, Dr. John obtained a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California (USC). He received the Josette Antonelli Division Service Scholarship, Orderof the Golden Cane, and the Order of Areté.At USC, he also performed research on swimming biomechanics and lung adaptations in swimming training.
After USC, Dr. John opened COR, a physical therapy and sports performance facility in Santa Clara, CA, where he has worked with multiple professional athletes and Olympians. He currently writes for numerous publications and is an editor of the NSCA personal trainer quarterly.
Dr. John has also presented at numerous conferences and has consulted internationally. He has written 4 digital books: Mobility for Swimmers, Dryland for Swimmers, Swimming Core Training, and the Swimmer’s Shoulder System. He is still a swimmer and holds a Masters swimming World and Pacific Swimming Record.
