New research in Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research investigated possible potentiating variables of different types of conditioning with dynamic stretching techniques. Researchers examined 20 athletes, who participated in 6 different study protocols. After assessing the data researchers asserted that the volume and the intensity associated with only 10 minutes of dynamic stretching did provide the potentiation needed for vertical jump performance.
Current research can be mixed on recommendations of dynamic rather and static stretching for warming up an athlete. However, this new data affirms that strength and conditioning coaches should reexamine dynamic stretching to induce potentiation in an athletes performance.
