Athlete Journal, Entry 15: Squat a S#%t-Ton Night
MONDAY
Right pec was real tight during warmups. I spent a great deal of time trying to get it loosened up, but never got it to fully clear. That’s what got me on my final working set, not my elbow.
Bench press
135×10
225×3 – Realized just how tight it was and backed off to hit more massage before restarting
185×5
225×5
315×5
395×8 – plan was for 10
Decided to drop the floor press to give the chest a break
Bottoms-Up Kettlebell Press
53×10
70×7,8,8,7
That amount of total reps had my shoulders screaming…in a good way.
Band Overhead Triceps Extensions
#4 band x 65,20,15
WEDNESDAY
Felt real loose and in great shape after not hitting deadlifts hard on Saturday. I pronounced to the team that Wednesday was no longer “squat night” but “squat a shit-ton night.” Of course I as immediately asked what exactly a “shit-ton” was so I had to do a demonstration as seen below.
Buffalo Bar Squats w/300lbs in Chain

155+300×3
265+300×3
375+300×3

600+300×3

Wow…was super happy.

Band Bad Girls (hip Abduction with bands – see videos on EPC website)
Heading out of town for some family camping. Got busted trying to schedule an out-of-town workout, so it looks like a few days off. Unfortunately also means missing my Thursday massage, which my right pec really needs. Been working it with the rumble roller and taking that with me to continue to do the same. I’m sure I could really use a few days off. I just don’t like it.
