Val Voboril is a perennial fan favorite at the CrossFit Games, and it’s not hard to see why. Her trademark perpetual smile and indomitable attitude seem to defy even the most grueling workouts. In a sport increasingly dominated by full time athletes, Val is happy to be a full-time mom and teacher first, and an athlete second. Not that it’s slowed her down any—at 38, she just earned her sixth invite to the Games with a third-place finish at the 2017 California Regional.
With co-hosts Mike Tromello and Pete Hitzeman, Val covers Pecpocalypse 2017, the roots of her positive mindset, and the importance of keeping your focus on yourself and nothing else during competition. Val also talks about the challenge (and advantage) of switching between mom and athlete mindsets, and the importance of keeping fitness fun for her health and longevity.
