Support Yourself: The Nordic Lifting Knee Sleeve

Whether you are an elite athlete or an average Joe, knee sleeves promote faster muscle recovery and support you during your workouts.

Do you need a sleeve to protect your knees from injury? Knee pain and injuries can stop you from running, lifting, cycling, or even walking comfortably. Nordic Lifting’s 7mm Neoprene Knee Sleeves are designed to not just reduce knee injuries, but they provide compression to stimulate circulation and promote faster muscle recovery. They can prevent joint stiffness and Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) after an intense run or lower body workout, and fit women and men. They’re also designed to speed up healing from injuries, and help prevent the worsening of existing pains and/or joint damage. For lifters, CrossFitters, runners, and cyclists, they can be the knee support you need.

Put to the Test

There was no noted discomfort when using these sleeves for running or bodyweight training. They limit range of movement somewhat for kickboxers/martial artists and are bit stiff when trying to perform a high roundhouse or front kick.

The sleeves tend to become itchy after 30 minutes of heavy sweating, but they weren’t too tight on the thigh or calf, so there seemed to be no reduced circulation. They don’t slip off when squatting (a common problem) or cycling. There was no discomfort after repeated lateral motions (Heisman jumps, side squats), and they added good support for squats and lunges—no knee pain. A real bonus was that there was less stiffness/soreness within 24 hours following workout.

The Nordic Lift 7mm Neoprene Knee Sleeves were used only on the right knee for lifting, but was used on both knees when running. They were used for no more than 45 minutes at a time—longer use led to minor discomfort. I have used them off and on for two years, primarily for lower body weightlifting and trail running/hill sprints. The sleeves provide excellent knee support and stability, as well as warmth for outdoor running and sports use.
