Every Sunday we post the “Sunday Seven” so you can quickly see the 7 most popular articles of the week. This week’s popular topics include the CrossFit Open, martial arts, accepting yourself, avoiding injury in CrossFit, and more!

1. Four Reasons Every CrossFitter Should Participate in the CrossFit Games Open (Danette “Dizzle” Rivera)

The CrossFit Games Open begins tomorrow and there’s still time for you to register. Here are four reasons I believe you should get in on the Open, even if (or rather, especially if!) you have doubts.

2. It’s the Art: How an In-the-Moment Decision Continues to Pay Dividends (Valerie Worthington)

Once I tapped out a man I was training with and he threw an actual tantrum. What I said to him next impacted his life and mine for many years to come.

3. The Missing Link in Your Health: Accepting Yourself (Summer Innanen)

There is an epidemic destroying our nutrition and fitness goals. It’s not a disease or a food – it’s a mindset. It is unrealistic expectations and an obsession with perfection. Here’s how to cure it.

4. How to Injury Proof Your CrossFit (Michael Campi)

Your mission as a CrossFit coach is to challenge the client in your gym, get them stronger, and lead them on the path to mastery and competence without injuring them. Here’s the prescription for that.

5. Winners Announced – The 2013 Top 10 Fitness Blog Contest (Breaking Muscle HQ)

The judges looked over your nominations and their selections are in! Here are the Top 10 Fitness Blogs of 2013, chosen by Nicki Violetti, Charles Staley, Nick Horton, and Jennifer Fader.

6. Understanding Our Adrenal System: Norepinephrine (Vanessa Bennington)

I am going to explain adrenal chemicals one by one, so we can understand the complex mechanisms of adrenal function and how to maximize our athletic performance. First up – norepinephrine.

7. Gender and Jiu Jitsu: Helping Men Understand Newbie Women (Valerie Worthington)

If you’re a man, imagine how your perspective on the world might differ if you were concerned for your physical safety pretty much all the time – and how it might affect your orientation to jiu jitsu.
