Becca’s Healthy Eating Holiday Wish List

1. Cuisinart PSC Stainles Steel Programmable Slow Cooker – $98.71

I’m a big fan of slow cooking for both health and convenience reasons. There’s nothing like having dinner waiting for you and the house smelling good, too. What I’ve been wanting is a slow cooker where I can set the temperature and the cook time independently of each other. This one does that and looks snazzy on the countertop.

2. Penzey’s Spices Grill and Broil Gift Crate – $128.79

becca borawski, becca borawski gift list, holiday gift list, gluten free giftsI keep hearing rave reviews of these spices. Spices are like perfume to me – totally enchanting, but so painful to spend that much money on. This gift crate would last me a long time and have me playing in the kitchen for many hours.

3. Delmonico Steaks from U.S. Wellness Meats – $104.88

Whenever we go to the butcher counter my boyfriend drools over the Delmonico steaks. U.S. Wellness Meats carries grass-fed ones from Australia. I’d like to get six of them so we at least get a couple meals out of them.

4. Artisana Organic Raw Coconut Butter – $13.49

becca borawski, becca borawski gift list, holiday gift list, gluten free giftsLike heaven in a little bottle, this coconut butter is make from pureed coconut flesh. Delicious and healthy, but not low in calories. This is one of my favorite healthy treats and I’ve got none in the cupboard currently. I would tell you what it’s good to mix with, but I just eat it by the spoonful straight out of the jar.

5. Barlean’s Key Lime Ultra High Potency Omega Swirl – $29.95

Just like it’s actually kind of nice to find new socks in your stocking, I wouldn’t mind getting a little stocked up on my fish oil. My favorite is the new Key Lime flavor from Barlean’s. It tastes amazing and it has 1,500 mg of EPA/DHA per serving.

6. Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Baking Mix Bundle – $44.90

becca borawski, becca borawski gift list, holiday gift list, gluten free giftsThis is making my stomach growl just thinking about it. This bundle include a bag of each of the following: GF Brownie Mix, GF Pizza Crust Mix, GF Chocolate Cake Mix, GF Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, GF Buscuit & Baking Mix, GF Homemade Wonderful Bread Mix, GF Hearty Whole Grain Bread Mix and GF Cornbread Mix.

7. Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Bakers Bundle – $33.13

And for when I wanted to make things from scratch, I’d need to get this bundle, as well. This one includes a bag of each of the following: Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Flour 44oz, Brown Rice Flour 24oz, White Rice Flour 24oz, Potato Starch 24oz, Tapioca Flour 20oz and Sorghum Flour 22oz.

8. Omission Gluten Free Beer – $9.49/6-pack

becca borawski, becca borawski gift list, holiday gift list, gluten free giftsIf you are gluten free and you miss beer, then you have to try Omission Beer from Widmer Brewing. Although it’s brewed with malted barley, Widmer uses a propriety method for removing all the gluten. Unlike beers made from sorghum, nuts, or other things, this gluten free beer actually tastes like beer. In fact, it tastes great and doesn’t leave anything like that strange sorghum aftertaste. It’s comes in a pale ale and a lager. It’s a little pricey, but we love having a six-pack on hand in our house, so I wouldn’t mind some more as a gift at the holidays.

9. Sauvie Island Organics CSA Share – $920.00

becca borawski, becca borawski gift list, holiday gift list, gluten free giftsThere’s nothing like organic, local, in season vegetables and a great way to get them is through a CSA membership. Sauvie Island Organics is local to me here in Portland. A full share lasting for the 28-week season would handle our vegetable shopping for many months, while also supporting local farmers and the good of the planet.

10. ChocolaTao Herbal Chocolate Bar – $4.50/bar

becca borawski, becca borawski gift list, holiday gift list, gluten free giftsAnd because we all deserve a holiday treat, I’d also want some goodies from ChocolaTao. ChocolaTao is not only delicious dark chocolate, but it’s blended with herbs that are good for your body and mind. There are a bunch of different ones you can choose from, in bar or hot chocolate form, like Stress Relief, PMS Relief, Libido Enhancers, and a Memory & Concentration Formula.

About Becca Borawski

Becca found her way to a career in health and fitness through Martial Arts and CrossFit. Originally a music editor for film and television, Becca started studying Martial Arts in 2000. Though she started with traditional Martial Arts it was not long before she discovered Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and her path was forever altered. She began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Muay Thai and started working with professional MMA fighters, building websites, working on fight promotions, and producing videos.

As a competitor in BJJ herself, Becca wanted to get stronger and fitter. In 2006 she discovered CrossFit and became a student at CrossFit Los Angeles. In only a couple of years she became CrossFit Level III Certified, left her career in the film industry, and dedicated herself full time to coaching. She has since been certified through CrossFit in Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting, Nutrition, Endurance and Kids coaching. She also held an NSCA-CSCS from 2006-2008 and is a certified IndoRow instructor. In addition to coaching adults, she founded the CrossFit LA Kids program in 2010 and taught children aged 5-17.

Becca regularly takes on new sports, which have included indoor rowing, fencing, and most recently, cycling, as she believes it makes her both a better athlete and a better coach. In order to reach more people with her coaching, Becca also created ModernAthena.com – a website dedicated to women in pursuit of physical fitness and self-improvement.
